Drawn into Dark

********

strong shafts push back
the dusk,

color cupped in this
exquisite

slice of day,
a silver heartbeat

caught
in shadow’s slow embrace,

cooling strands
of light

swallowed
in the slow

and undulating rhythms
of the night.

“…when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24
