Inimitable Awe

In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation.
” ~ Psalm 5:3

Awed by the inimitable work of His Hands,
His fathomless grace,
the ceaseless wonder of His love,
I pause, challenged by these timeless words:

IF I ask to be delivered from trial
rather than for deliverance out of it,
to the praise of His glory;

IF I forget that the way
of the cross
leads to the cross
and not to a bank of flowers;

IF I regulate my life on these lines,
or even unconsciously my thinking,
so that I am surprised
when the way is rough
and think it strange,
though the word is,
‘Think it not strange,’
‘Count it all joy,’
then I know nothing of
Calvary love.
” ~ Amy Carmichael

Count it all joy, my friends, this day, this love, His grace,
and be most blessed!

  1. Beautiful photos, and words. As I read down, I was wondering who wrote them. Then I saw: Amy Carmichael, one of my favorite women of God. And she knew, didn’t she? Truth to remember, in both times of ease and roughness. Thank you for sharing it.

    I often remind myself to “count it all joy” in times of struggle. Thank you for both the beautiful words and the powerful images.
    Peace and good to you.

    I saw that you posted some work by Amy Carmichael. She’s fantastic and I actually work for the publishing company that produces a lot of her books! I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a review on a new one we have out, called Plowed Under.
    Email me if you are interested!
    Thank you for your consideration,
